OG L.A. writer Slick talks about how he got into art and how he came about opening his own graffiti shop known as Big Dicks Hardware in Southern California.
In this week’s ‘Street Talk,’ JJ Anderson speaks with renown artist OG Slick about his latest venture: Big Dick’s Hardware. The Hawaiian native has been in both the art word and street wear game for over 25 years, and felt that it was finally time to answer the prayers of many graffiti artists. Slick opened up Big Dick’s Hardware, a shop that houses his personal brand DISSIZIT, a variety of other apparel lines—including our friends from The Seventh Letter—and of course, endless amount of art supplies.
Located in Gardena, CA, Big Dick’s Hardware is worth the trek. Slick’s employees, Chris and Steve, both wear bowties around their neck and are hard-core graffiti enthusiasts. Both employees have extensive knowledge about anything graffiti, whether you have questions about rare MTN colors, BDH stocks, or spray caps. Apart from the shops awesome customer service, the Hardware store also takes a nod to Slick’s childhood fascination with trains. Built to hang just under the ceiling, Big Dick’s has a railroad track that hangs and moves. Big Dick’s Hardware is as special as they come, and alongside unbeatable prices, this shop remains to be the mecca for all street artist
